Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. powdered milk
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast into warm water and let sit until frothy.
  2. Sift together flour, powdered milk, sugar, and salt; mix well.
  3. Combine the yeast mixture with the dry ingredients and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
  4. Knead in enough additional flour to prevent sticking.
  5. Pat or roll out the dough and cut with a small orange juice can or cutter.
  6. Dip the cut dough in melted butter.
  7. Fold the dough into pocketbook shapes.
  8. Allow the shaped rolls to rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  9. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Optional: Freeze after baking; thaw and let rise for 3 hours before reheating.
