Ingredients

  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 (7 oz.) box raisins (optional)
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 Tbsp. orange rind

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together with exception of sugar. Lightly flour raisins.
  2. Cream margarine and sugar; add egg and blend.
  3. Stir in molasses.
  4. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately.
  5. Add orange rind.
  6. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
