Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 lb pork butt
  • 3 onions, quartered
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup lite soy sauce
  • 3 star anise

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork butt.
  2. Place the pork butt and quartered onions in a 3 to 4-quart casserole dish.
  3. Mix garlic, ginger, white pepper, white wine, water, soy sauce, and star anise; pour over the meat and onions.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 3 hours.
  5. Serve the pork with rice and vegetables.
