Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, marinate the pork chops in a mixture of garlic, thyme, and olive oil for a few hours before cooking. If you don't have dry white wine, you can substitute with apple cider vinegar or chicken broth. Using a mix of mushrooms, like cremini and shiitake, can enhance the umami flavor in the dish. Ensure the cream is at room temperature before adding it to prevent curdling.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the pork chops over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes or with buttered egg noodles to soak up the delicious chive cream sauce. A side of sautéed green beans or a fresh garden salad pairs nicely, adding color and crunch. This dish also pairs beautifully with Emma Hawkins' Chicken Casserole for a comforting meal lineup.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover pork chops in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of broth to keep them moist, or microwave them covered with a damp paper towel until warmed through. Avoid reheating multiple times to maintain quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use different meats instead of pork chops?

Yes, you can substitute pork chops with chicken breasts or thighs for a different protein option. Adjust the cooking time accordingly; chicken typically cooks faster than pork. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F for safety.

What can I use if I don't have Dijon mustard?

If you don't have Dijon mustard, you can use yellow mustard or a mixture of 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of vinegar as a substitute. This will add a touch of sweetness while still providing some tangy flavor.

How can I make this dish more low-calorie?

To make this dish lighter, you can use skinless pork loin chops and replace the whipping cream with a lower-fat option, such as half-and-half or a plant-based cream. You can also reduce the amount of oil used for cooking.
