- Bring butter and eggs to room temperature.
- Grease the bottom and about 1 inch up the sides of a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
- In a small mixer bowl, beat butter at medium speed until creamed and fluffy.
- Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed for 6 minutes or until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla, then eggs one at a time, beating about 1 minute after each addition.
- Scrape the bowl frequently. Mix flour, salt, and nutmeg together.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the egg mixture and beat until thoroughly blended.
- Turn batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake at 325°F for 60 to 65 minutes.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
