- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Use a mixer to briefly mix white sugar and dark brown sugar at low speed.
- Add butter at low speed, then high; beat until pale, light, and very fluffy.
- Add vanilla at low speed, then high for a few seconds.
- Add eggs at low speed, then high until the mixture looks creamed.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, at low speed for 1 minute, then high speed for a few seconds.
- Scrape the bowl down on the sides; add chocolate chunks and nuts.
- Mix at low speed for approximately 10 seconds.
- Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a double-thickness ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 9 minutes in an electric oven, or 10 to 11 minutes in a gas oven.
