Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 egg
  • bread (preferably thick sliced)

Instructions

  1. Mix together dry ingredients; add egg, milk and vanilla.
  2. Beat until smooth. Heat 1/2 inch oil in skillet. Dip slices of bread into batter and fry on both sides until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or put syrup on it.
