Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups plain flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water in a small bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir the boiling water and shortening until dissolved.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients: sugar, salt, beaten eggs, and flour.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Knead the dough thoroughly.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  8. Dip each cut piece in melted butter.
  9. Line the bottom and sides of a Bundt cake pan with the dipped dough pieces.
  10. Fill the pan around the stem of the pan as well.
  11. Let the dough rise, covered, for 1 hour.
  12. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 30 minutes until golden.
