Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cream Crisco and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Mix dry ingredients (sifted cake flour, salt, baking powder) together.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Divide batter evenly into 3 greased and floured cake pans.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool, then frost with your favorite icing.
