Ingredients

  • 1 Duncan Hines spice cake mix
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. chopped fig preserves

Instructions

  1. Follow the directions on the cake mix box, adding the spices: nutmeg, ground cloves, cinnamon, and ground allspice.
  2. Fold in chopped nuts and chopped fig preserves.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for about 45 minutes or until done.
  5. While the cake is hot, pour sauce over the cake in the pan.
  6. Allow the cake to cool.
  7. Cut into squares and serve.
  8. Top with Cool Whip, if desired.
