Ingredients

  • 15 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 22 oz. prosciutto, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons basil
  • 2 frozen bread dough loaves

Instructions

  1. Combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, chopped prosciutto, basil, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  3. Brush two large baking sheets with salad oil; set aside.
  4. Divide each bread dough loaf into 3 equal parts.
  5. Roll each piece into a 7-inch round.
  6. Place 1/2 cup of the cheese mixture on half of each dough round, spreading to within 1/2-inch of the edge.
  7. Beat eggs with 1 tablespoon water and brush over the edges of the dough round.
  8. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.
  9. Place 3 calzones on each prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the calzones with salad oil.
  11. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until lightly browned.
  12. Serve immediately.
