  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. celery salt

Tips & Substitutions

For a spicier kick, consider adding jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. If you can't find Bermuda onions, yellow onions work well too. Always use fresh, firm vegetables for the best flavor. When grinding, you can use a food processor for efficiency, but be careful not to over-process them into a puree. This relish can also complement dishes like Fried Apple Pies (Turnovers)(Very Old Recipe).

Serving Suggestions

This relish is a delightful addition to holiday meals, pairing wonderfully with roasted meats or as a topping for sandwiches. Try serving it alongside a cheese platter or alongside dishes like Grandmother'S Special Pork Chops for a burst of flavor. It can also be enjoyed with crackers or mixed into salads like Strawberry And Spinach Salad for added zest.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover relish in airtight jars in the refrigerator, where it can last up to two weeks. For longer storage, consider canning the relish using proper canning techniques. To reheat, simply pour the desired amount into a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.
