Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider marinating the steak in the Wish-Bone Italian dressing for a few hours or overnight. If you prefer, substitute the round steak with chicken or tofu for a lighter option. You can also add zucchini or cherry tomatoes to the skewers for more variety. Be sure to soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the shish kebobs with a side of Tabbouli or a refreshing Tossed Green Salad to complement the flavors. You can also pair them with warm pita bread and a side of Eggplant In Hummus for a delightful Mediterranean feast. For a heartier meal, consider serving them over rice or couscous.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover shish kebobs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes or until warmed through. Alternatively, you can microwave them in short intervals, but be cautious not to overheat, as it may dry them out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use different vegetables for the kebobs?

Absolutely! Feel free to use your favorite vegetables such as zucchini, cherry tomatoes, or red onions. Just ensure they are cut into similar sizes to ensure even cooking. This flexibility allows you to customize the kebobs to your taste.

How can I make this recipe more suitable for a vegan diet?

To adapt this recipe for a vegan diet, simply replace the round steak with firm tofu or seitan. Marinate them just like the meat for maximum flavor. You can also add extra vegetables like bell peppers and mushrooms for a heartier dish.

What can I do if I don't have a grill?

If you don't have a grill, you can still make these kebobs in the oven. Preheat your oven to 400°F and place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through, until the vegetables are tender and the meat is cooked through.
