Ingredients

  • 2 loaves frozen bread
  • 1/2 cup oleo melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 package vanilla or butterscotch pudding (not instant)
  • nuts

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9 x 13-inch cake pan and break one loaf of bread into walnut-sized pieces into the bottom of the pan.
  2. Mix pudding, melted oleo, and brown sugar together in a bowl.
  3. If the mixture is too thick, add 1/2 tablespoon of milk and stir.
  4. Pour half of the pudding mixture over the bread pieces in the pan.
  5. Break the remaining loaf over the pudding mixture and pour the rest of the pudding mixture over the top.
  6. Sprinkle nuts or raisins after each layer of pudding mixture.
  7. Let the assembled mixture rise to the top of the pan at room temperature.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 30 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and turn upside down onto a plate to serve.

Tips & Substitutions

For a quicker rise, place the assembled rolls in a warm area, such as near a preheating oven. If you want a richer flavor, consider using butter instead of oleo. You can also substitute the vanilla or butterscotch pudding with a similar flavored pudding mix. For a vegan version, try using plant-based butter and a dairy-free pudding mix.

Serving Suggestions

These sticky cinnamon rolls are perfect for brunch and pair beautifully with fresh fruit or a light salad like Nevada'S Cole Slaw. Drizzle with a simple icing made from powdered sugar and milk for added sweetness. They can also be served alongside coffee or tea for a delightful afternoon treat.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week. To reheat, simply warm them in the microwave for about 20 seconds or place in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10 minutes until warmed through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh bread instead of frozen?

While frozen bread is recommended for its texture and ease of use, you can use fresh bread. However, fresh bread may require a slightly shorter baking time and might not achieve the same sticky texture. Ensure it’s not too fresh to avoid excessive moisture.

What types of nuts work best for this recipe?

Chopped pecans or walnuts are excellent choices for this recipe, as they complement the cinnamon and sweetness beautifully. You can also omit nuts for a nut-free version or replace them with seeds if you prefer.

How can I make these rolls more decadent?

For a more indulgent treat, you can add a cream cheese frosting on top after baking. Simply mix cream cheese with powdered sugar and a splash of vanilla for a delicious topping that enhances the flavor of the rolls.
