Ingredients

  • 1 lb butter
  • 5 lb flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 12 eggs
  • 1 quart sour cream or beer
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cake yeast

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter with the flour.
  2. Add sugar to egg yolks. Beat egg whites separately and fold into yolks.
  3. Add sour cream or beer to the egg mixture. Mix well.
  4. Add salt and vanilla to the mixture.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Add dissolved yeast to the mixture and incorporate into the flour.
  7. Knead the dough well.
  8. Let the dough rise overnight.
  9. Roll out the dough and shape into nut rolls.
  10. Let the shaped rolls rise again in pans.
  11. Bake in a 325°F oven until brown.
