Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 lb. raisins, cooked
  • 1 c. nut meats (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar and shortening.
  2. Add rest of ingredients, cooking raisins until soft and adding to batter last.
  3. Bake in muffin tins at 375°.
