Raisin-Nut Bread With Dates

Instructions
- Boil water and raisins together for 1 minute.
- Cool.
- Mix and cream together sugar, shortening, egg, salt and vanilla.
- Add raisins and water to mixture.
- Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Fill 3 or 4 cans (greased) half full.
- Use 17 ounces can of peas or corn.
- Place on baking sheet so they don't touch.
- Bake about 1 hour at 350°.
