- Core the apples and pare a strip from the center or top of each.
- Mix the brown sugar and raisins together.
- Place about 2 tablespoons of the raisin mixture into the center of each apple.

- Bring the water to a boil.
- Continue boiling gently for 15 minutes or until the apples are tender.
- Serve the apples warm. Omit butter if serving chilled.
