Ingredients

  • 4 large baking apples
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup seedless raisins
  • butter
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Core the apples and pare a strip from the center or top of each.
  2. Mix the brown sugar and raisins together.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of the raisin mixture into the center of each apple.
  4. Dot each filled apple with butter.
  5. Place the apples in a large saucepan and add water.
  6. Cover the saucepan tightly.
  7. Bring the water to a boil.
  8. Continue boiling gently for 15 minutes or until the apples are tender.
  9. Serve the apples warm. Omit butter if serving chilled.
