Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. hot milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk.
  2. Add shortening, sugar, and salt to the milk.
  3. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. When the mixture is lukewarm, add yeast mixed with warm water and beaten eggs.
  5. Put all ingredients into a large bowl and beat in 2 cups of flour until smooth.
  6. Stir in the remaining flour, a cup at a time, to make a soft dough.
  7. Add raisins to the dough.
