Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 c. shortening
  • ice water

Instructions

  1. Cut together with a pastry blender the shortening with the flour, with the salt added.
  2. Into a 1-cup measure, break the whole egg and beat.
  3. Add the vinegar, then mix.
  4. Finish filling the cup with ice water.
  5. Pour this mixture over the flour-shortening mixture.
  6. Stir together; form into a large ball.
