Ingredients

  • 17 oz. can peas and tiny onions, drained
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked instant rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 small carrot, shredded (about 3 Tbsp.)
  • 1 teaspoon butter

Instructions

  1. Add enough water to the reserved vegetable liquid to measure 1 1/2 cups.
  2. Pour the liquid into a 2-quart saucepan.
  3. Heat the liquid to boiling.
  4. Stir in peas, rice, butter, salt, and shredded carrot.
  5. Heat to boiling again, then remove from heat.
  6. Cover and let stand until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 10 minutes.
