Decadent and rich chocolate mousse with deep cocoa flavor, enhanced by coffee and optional rum, perfect for special occasions or indulgent dessert cravings.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 oz butter
  • 3 Tbsp coffee
  • 2 Tbsp rum

Instructions

  1. Melt the bittersweet chocolate chips in a double boiler until smooth.
  2. Add the butter to the melted chocolate and stir until well combined.
  3. Stir in the coffee and rum if desired.
  4. Separate the egg yolks from the whites.
  5. Add the egg yolks to the chocolate mixture one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  6. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  7. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the chocolate mixture using a wooden spoon.
  8. Pour the mousse into dessert glasses and refrigerate until set.
  9. Decorate with whipped cream and toasted almond slivers if desired.
