Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage
  • 3 cans tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. dried basil leaves
  • 10 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 24 oz. cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c. grated Romano cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 4 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Brown the Italian sausage slowly in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  2. Add tomato paste, garlic powder, dried basil leaves, and salt to the skillet.
  3. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  5. Layer cooked noodles, sausage sauce, cottage cheese, Romano cheese, and shredded mozzarella in a baking dish.
  6. Repeat layers as desired and top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
