Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup melted shortening
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 5 to 5 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in warm water with sugar.
  2. Add scalded milk, melted shortening, well beaten eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Place the mixture in a greased bowl; let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down the dough; divide it in half.
  5. Put each half in a greased pan; let rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
