Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. butter cake mix
  • 2 cups chopped roasted pecans
  • 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 box 4x sugar

Instructions

  1. Roast pecans: place shelled pecans on a cookie sheet and roast at 225°F for 1 hour, stirring often.
  2. Prepare frosting: mix cream cheese, oleo, and 4x sugar until smooth.
  3. Mix cake batter: prepare cake according to the directions on the cake mix box.
  4. Add chopped roasted pecans to the batter.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among three 8-inch round pans.
  6. Bake each cake layer at the temperature specified on the cake mix box until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool before assembling and frosting.
