Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 5 c. self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Mix the lukewarm water and dry yeast together and let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the self-rising flour, sugar, and soda. Add the buttermilk and the yeast mixture.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then refrigerate in the icebox for some time to chill the dough.
  4. Pinch off a small piece of dough, roll it into a ball, and cut out individual biscuits.
  5. Place the biscuits in a greased baking pan and bake until golden brown.
