These homemade bran cereal rolls are soft, flavorful, and perfect for breakfast or snacks. They suit all ages and are ideal for wholesome, comforting baking.

Ingredients

  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 1/2 cups bran cereal
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the Crisco.
  2. Add sugar, salt, and bran cereal to the mixture.
  3. Dissolve the yeast in 1 cup of lukewarm water.
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the bran mixture.
  5. Beat in the eggs.
  6. Add flour and mix until a large ball forms.
  7. Place the dough in a large greased bowl and let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down the dough.
  9. At this point, you can refrigerate or roll out and make into rolls.
  10. Let the formed rolls rise for approximately 1 hour.
  11. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F until browned.
