Ingredients

  • 2 packages crescent rolls
  • 1/2 pound salami
  • 1/2 pound boiled ham
  • 1/2 pound Provolone cheese
  • 1 large jar roasted peppers, drained and chopped
  • 1 small jar roasted peppers, drained and chopped

Instructions

  1. Beat 4 eggs and Parmesan cheese together.
  2. Smooth 1 package of crescent rolls on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Layer half of the salami, ham, and Provolone over the rolls.
  4. Spread half of the roasted peppers over the layers.
  5. Pour half of the egg and cheese mixture over the top, tilting the pan to spread evenly.
  6. Repeat the layering process without the rolls, using the remaining ingredients.
  7. Top with the remaining package of crescent rolls and brush with the reserved beaten egg.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes covered with foil, tenting to prevent sticking, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. Cool slightly, then cut into desired shapes and sizes.
  10. Serve hot or cold, reheating if desired. Refrigerates and freezes well.

Tips & Substitutions

For a lighter version, consider substituting turkey salami and a lower-fat cheese. You can also use fresh roasted peppers instead of jarred ones for enhanced flavor. If pressed for time, store-bought pie crusts can replace the crescent rolls, though the texture will differ. Always ensure an even layer of the egg mixture for better baking results.

Serving Suggestions

This quiche is delicious served warm or cold and pairs well with a simple green salad dressed with vinaigrette. For a heartier meal, consider adding a side of roasted vegetables or serving alongside a bowl of soup. It also complements dishes like the Dietetic Lime Mist Cheesecake for a complete meal.

Storage & Reheating

To store leftovers, let the quiche cool completely, then cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes until warmed through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this quiche ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prepare the quiche a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just make sure to cover it tightly to maintain freshness. When ready to serve, reheat it in the oven, which will help retain its texture.

What can I substitute for Provolone cheese?

If Provolone is not available, you can substitute it with mozzarella or even cheddar for a different flavor profile. Each option will alter the taste slightly, but they all melt well and complement the other ingredients.

How do I know when the quiche is done baking?

The quiche is done when it is puffed up, golden brown on top, and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on it during the last 10-15 minutes of baking to prevent over-browning.
