Ingredients

  • 1 medium head red cabbage, shredded (about 6 c.)
  • 3 tart cooking apples
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, cook cabbage, apples, salt and pepper in a small amount of boiling water over medium-low heat, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until apples are tender.
  2. Drain.
  3. Return to saucepan. Add vinegar, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Heat through. Stir to combine.
  5. Makes 8 servings.
