Ingredients

  • 4 lb. sugar
  • 5 gal. water (lukewarm)
  • 1 bottle root beer extract
  • 1/2 to 1 package compressed yeast

Instructions

  1. Dissolve 4 pounds of sugar in 5 gallons of lukewarm water.
  2. Add 1 bottle of root beer extract and 1/2 to 1 package of compressed yeast.
  3. Mix well and bottle the mixture, then cork and seal tightly.
  4. Set the bottles in a warm place and allow to ferment for 10 to 12 hours.
  5. For better flavor, let the root beer stand for several days before refrigerating.
  6. Store in a cool place until ready to serve.
