Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 (1 lb.) box cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cream (evaporated milk)

Instructions

  1. Cream the sugar and butter together until smooth.
  2. Add eggs, then mix well.
  3. Stir in the sifted flour, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  4. Add the cream (evaporated milk) and mix thoroughly.
  5. Make small balls about 1 inch in diameter from the dough.
  6. Roll each ball into a 9-inch long strip and twist into a figure eight shape.
  7. Lightly grease a cookie sheet and sprinkle with flour before placing the shaped dough on it.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until golden.
  9. While still warm, carefully remove the cookies from the sheet and let cool.
