Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • raisins or chopped dates (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream and beaten eggs; mix just until combined.
  3. Stir in raisins or chopped dates, if desired.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 10 to 12 times.
  5. Pat the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut out biscuits with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
