Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pecans

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and cocoa in a saucepan.
  2. Add milk; stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved, then bring to a boil.
  3. Cook until a small amount of candy dropped in cold water forms a soft ball.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Add butter and vanilla.
  6. Do not stir.
  7. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
  8. Beat until mixture thickens.
  9. Stir in pecans and quickly pour into a buttered pan.
