Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
  • 3/4 - 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Mix cocoa and sugar; stir into melted butter with wooden spoon. Continue stirring over low heat until ingredients are well blended. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; mix in vanilla. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to cocoa mixture and beat to mix thoroughly. Stir in nuts. Spread in 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake in oven for 30 minutes, or until top has a dull crust and slight imprint remains when lightly touched. Do not overbake. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 32 squares.
