Ingredients

  • 1 c. quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. honey or brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. iodized salt
  • 2 c. peeled apple slices or 3 medium apples, cored, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup oats, 1½ cups water, ¼ cup honey or brown sugar, ½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp iodized salt, 2 cups peeled apple slices, and ½ cup raisins in a slow cooker.
  2. Add 1 Tbsp butter or margarine if desired, stir well, and cover.
  3. Cook on low for 4–5 hours until thick or microwave on high for 8–10 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  4. Serve hot, optionally topped with extra butter or a drizzle of honey.
