Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon almond flavoring

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter until smooth.
  2. Add white sugar and salt; mix well.
  3. Incorporate the flour and blend thoroughly.
  4. Add almond flavoring and mix again.
  5. Stir in the rolled oats until evenly combined.
  6. Press the dough onto a cookie sheet to form a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into strips lengthwise and crosswise, about the size of a little finger.
  8. Separate the cookies.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until lightly golden.
  10. Leave the cookies on the pan until completely cool.
  11. Optional: Decorate with frosting rosettes for a festive touch.
