Torrijas are a delicious Spanish-style bread pudding, featuring soaked, fried bread slices coated with cinnamon and sugar, perfect for dessert or a sweet snack enjoyed by all.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. mold bread
  • 1 qt. olive oil
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 2 lb. sugar
  • ground cinnamon
  • stick cinnamon
  • 6 eggs

Instructions

  1. Cook the milk with 1 stick cinnamon and 1 pound of sugar for 3 minutes; then leave it to cool.
  2. Beat the eggs well in a separate bowl.
  3. Wet each bread slice in the cooled milk mixture.
  4. Wrap the soaked bread slices in the beaten eggs.
  5. Fry the bread slices in very hot olive oil until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and place on a tray, then sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon (half and half). Leave until cold before serving.
