Semsemia are sweet sesame cookies with rich flavors of honey, walnuts, and aromatic spices, perfect for sharing with friends and family during special occasions or tea time.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sesame seeds
  • 8 oz. honey
  • 3 Tbsp. peanut butter
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. rose water
  • 1 tsp. cardamom
  • 1 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Brown sesame seeds slightly in the oven or on the stovetop. Set aside.
  2. Mix honey, peanut butter, sugar, rose water, and cardamom in a saucepan.
  3. Cook on low heat until it bubbles.
  4. Stir in the sesame seeds and chopped walnuts.
  5. Spread the mixture in a greased 9 x 14-inch (or similar size) pan to cool.
  6. Once cooled, cut into diamond shapes and serve.
