Ingredients

  • 3 sticks butter
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon
  • 3/4 cup Seven-Up

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Mix the salt with the cake flour.
  4. Add the flour mixture and Seven-Up to the creamed mixture alternately, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into a large pan with a hole in the center (tube pan).
  6. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
