Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lima beans
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the lima beans and place them in a 5-quart kettle.
  2. Add water to cover the beans and include the bacon cut into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Cook the mixture for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. Add the brown sugar and continue cooking for another 30 minutes, or until the beans are soft.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
