Ingredients

  • 1 cup cheese soup (undiluted)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons snipped chives
  • 1 (20 oz.) package white bread mix

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine cheese soup, milk, butter, and chives, cooking and stirring until the butter melts.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine this mixture and bread mix.
  3. Turn out on a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth, about 5 to 10 minutes, adding additional flour if necessary.
  4. Invert a bowl over the dough and let rest for 25 minutes.
  5. Shape the dough into a loaf and place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 225°F for 20 minutes.
  7. Increase oven temperature to 425°F and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Cover the pan with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if the bread browns too quickly.
