Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 package sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Line a 9 to 11-inch iron skillet with aluminum foil, leaving excess on either side.
  2. Melt butter and add it to the sugar in a mixing bowl.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
  4. Add the sifted all-purpose flour, salt, and almond flavoring, and mix well.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared skillet.
  6. Sprinkle sliced almonds and granulated sugar on top of the batter.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. Remove the cake from the pan once cooled with the foil, lifting it out using the excess foil.
  9. Do not pull the foil off until the cake has cooled completely.
