- Line a 9 to 11-inch iron skillet with aluminum foil, leaving excess on either side.
- Melt butter and add it to the sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
- Add the sifted all-purpose flour, salt, and almond flavoring, and mix well.
- Pour the batter into the prepared skillet.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds and granulated sugar on top of the batter.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the pan once cooled with the foil, lifting it out using the excess foil.
- Do not pull the foil off until the cake has cooled completely.
