Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 6 c. flour
  • 1/2 c shortening
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the dry yeast in warm water and set aside.
  2. Place shortening, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl, then add boiling water.
  3. Stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm.
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the cooled water mixture.
  5. Stir in the eggs and gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape the dough into rolls or doughnuts and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Let the shaped dough rise until doubled in size.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown, about 15 minutes, or deep fry until golden.
