Instructions

  1. Mix the cake batter as directed.
  2. Melt caramels, oleo, and milk together.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.
  5. Pour the melted caramel mixture over the baked part of the cake.
  6. Add nuts and chocolate chips on top of the caramel layer.
  7. Pour the remaining cake batter over the caramel and nut layer.
  8. Bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes at 350°F or until the cake tests done.
  9. Optionally, save out a little caramel and spread a thin glaze over the hot cake.
