Sonora Chicken is a hearty, cheesy casserole with tender chicken, spicy chiles, and savory sauces, perfect for comforting family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked chicken
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 15 oz can chili (no beans)
  • 4 oz can taco sauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 pound sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 small can green chiles

Instructions

  1. Mix mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, chili, taco sauce, milk, and chopped onion in a bowl.
  2. Tear corn tortillas into small pieces.
  3. Layer in a large casserole pan: place cooked chicken on the bottom.
  4. Add half of the torn tortillas, half of the sauce mixture, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chicken.
  5. Repeat the layering with remaining tortillas, sauce, and cheese.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until hot and bubbly.
