Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 4 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 c. sorghum
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda

Instructions

  1. Place butter, water, corn syrup, sorghum, and sugar in a 3-quart saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil; cook until mixture spins a thread (soft crack stage).
  3. Add baking soda, stirring to blend thoroughly.
  4. Turn out onto buttered platters.
  5. Cool until candy can be handled.
  6. Butter hands and pull taffy until light-colored and too stiff to continue pulling.
  7. Pull into long twisted ropes.
  8. Cut or break into pieces; wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap.
