Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup starter
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 6 cups bread flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, make a stiff batter of sugar, oil, salt, starter, warm water, and bread flour.
  2. Use plastic instead of metal bowls.
  3. Grease another large bowl.
  4. Put the dough into the greased bowl and turn it over to coat the surface with oil.
  5. Cover lightly with plastic wrap to set overnight (do not refrigerate).
  6. This dough will rise significantly, so use a very large bowl.
  7. The next morning, punch down the dough and knead it lightly.
  8. Divide the dough into 2 parts.
  9. Knead each part on a floured board a few times, about 8 to 10 kneads.
