Ingredients

  • 12 pasta stuffing shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 oz medium picante sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp dry taco seasoning
  • 4 oz can chilies, drained
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2.8 oz can French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook and drain pasta shells. Brown and drain ground beef.
  3. Combine picante sauce, water, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning in a bowl.
  4. Chop chilies and grate cheese.
  5. Stir 1/2 cup of the sauce into the ground beef along with the chilies, 1/2 cup of cheese, and 1/2 can of fried onions.
  6. Pour remaining sauce into the bottom of a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
  7. Stuff cooked shells with the ground beef mixture and arrange them in the dish.
  8. Pour remaining sauce over the shells.
  9. Bake, covered, at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
  10. Top with remaining cheese and fried onions.
  11. Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes.
