Ingredients

  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup lard

Instructions

  1. Put water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it activate.
  2. Add salt and 2 cups sifted flour to the yeast mixture and beat for 2 minutes.
  3. Add eggs and melted, cooled lard to the mixture and beat for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually add 4 1/2 cups flour, stirring until dough is formed.
  5. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.
  6. Roll out each part and cut into circles, then wedge each circle like a pie into 12 wedges.
  7. Starting at the wide end of each wedge, roll up to form individual rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a pan and let them rise until doubled in size.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown.
