Ingredients

  • 4 c. red cabbage
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. bacon fat
  • 1/3 c. vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice very fine the red cabbage into a saucepan.
  2. Add the sugar, bacon fat, vinegar, salt, pepper, and ground cloves.
  3. Simmer for at least 1 hour.
  4. Allow to cook longer for improved flavor.
